Meet Brody...

Two months ago, my wife and I adopted an American Pit-bull Terrier from the SPCA. Brody (aka Burner, the name given to him by the SPCA) was about 16 months old and had a broken ear and was missing one of his back legs! Apparently his owner had refused to get him medical treatment, and the leg had already healed incorrectly by the time someone called the SPCA for help. The SPCA tried to fix his leg but Brody refused to walk on it so they had to amputate.

Already having a Boxer/Lab mix at home we were worried about a couple things.... how they would interact, that our Boxer would be to crazy for a little crippled dog with only one hind leg and all of the stereotypes put on pitbulls from the media. Over the next couple weeks we quickly realized that there wasn't a single thing that Brody couldn't do because of his impairment. He keeps up stride for stride with our Boxer when they are playing, has no problem getting up or down steps and can jump in the bed without any hesitation. I don't think Brody knows he is different from most dogs!

As wrong as we were about his missing leg, we were even more wrong about the pitbull breed. Having been around Krissy's pitbull, I knew pitbulls werent the vicious, mean, fighting dogs you here the media make them out to be. But I guess I wasnt fully convinced since that was the only pitbull Ive ever been around. Brody quickly convinced us that pitbulls are nothing to look down upon. Brody is the most gentle, relaxed, loving dog that I have ever met in my life. He does not have a mean bone in his body, and just wants to be loved and have a warm bed to sleep in. Which by the way, as I'm typing this I can hear my "mean, ferocious pit-bull" snoring from his favorite place in the world.... my bed.

Im writing this blog to inform people of a couple things. Number one.... if you see an animal suffering, do not hesitate to call someone and get help! The cases that come across the news make me sick sometimes. These dogs can't provide for themselves, or walk into the hospital to get treated for a broken bone. They rely on us humans to take care of them. If you know someone who isn't feeding their dogs, or abusing them or simple refusing to get them the help they need, GET HELP before it is to late! Number 2.... Do not be convinced by the media frenzy surrounding pitbulls that the entire breed wants to do nothing but destroy anyone and anything they come in contact with. It isnt the breed that is at fault, it is the people who are training them to be this way. Pitbulls are not proven to be more vicious than any other breed. They are however, the most commonly used breed for dog fighting, and get a bad reputation because of the criminals that force them to be that way. Number three and most important.... please adopt from the SPCA or any other shelter. There are way too many dogs looking for a good loving family in these places. They don't receive state or local funding and rely on us to help support them and their over abundance of animals that need rescuing every year. Help save a life by adopting from a shelter. We were very impressed by the SPCA and their willingness to help us find the perfect dog that would work well with our existing dog. Even if you can't adopt an animal, please donate or volunteer your time! It is up to us to help save these animals!

Ok if you wake up tomorrow and there is a foot of snow on the ground....Its all my fault! I just photographed this family this morning, already got the proofs out to them and am now doing the blog post all within less 12 hours of each other! Miracle right?

I met up with this awesome family and drove two seconds from their house down to the water for some great beach shots. It was HOT! But Laura, Curtis and their two girls were troopers and we survived the heat and even got some smiles from the little one after she was promised some ice cream!

The ride was a little long, however, the never ending Lady Antebellum songs and Hayden's singing made it go by pretty quick! I always have a blast with this family!

I absolutely love doing sessions with this family. The love they have for one another really shows. So I knew that once their family grew, the love would grow even more!

....Meet Liam!

I was a little nervous about this shoot because Liam was already about 6 weeks old. He was far past the squishy sleepy newborn phase, however, as soon as I got the camera out he smiled like a pro! Such a ham!

Until he got hungry of course...Then the pouty lip came. But how in the world could you say no to this?!?!

Waaaaaaay back in March I met with this awesome family to take some maternity pictures. So I very patiently (ok, maybe patiently isnt the right word) waited for OVER 2 months for baby Mikey!! But the wait was well worth it and I finally got to meet this little guy over the weekend. He didn't want to cooperate at first but I think we got some great shots in the end. Patience does pay off!

I met up with an awesome family yesterday to take some pictures of a very cool 16 year old. The weather ended up being PERFECT, just a tad bit hot towards the end. I think the day was a success though. I mean after all, neither of us got ran over while getting this shot....

Maternity Sessions

-We recommend Maternity Sessions be scheduled between 32-36 weeks of pregnancy.
-Maternity Sessions can be done indoor or outdoors. We recommend including the whole family in this session too!

Newborn Sessions

-Newborn Sessions are usually held indoors.

-We recommend Newborn Sessions be scheduled within the first 10 days after birth. It is easier for us to pose babies in the first few days of life, as they are very sleepy and flexible.

-We know there is no way of knowing when your baby will arrive. Therefore we recommend you book your session early and tell us your due date, so that way we can keep an open slot in our schedule around that time frame. If you do not book your session early , there is no way we can guarantee availability for your newborn session.

-If you have a newborn session already booked, please let us know as soon as possible after delivery that the baby has arrived so we can get you scheduled!

I have known Hayden's parents, Chris & Tracy, since high school. Yes, they were together way back then! I can honestly say I don't think I have ever met a family that has touched my heart the way they have. The love they have for each other is obvious to anyone within minutes of meeting them. They have been through so much the last 2 years. But they are all still together and still fighting strong. Chris & Tracy decided to share their personal story with you because their ultimate goal is to help find a cure for Leukemia so no other family to have to go through what they have went through!

Just a couple pics today of my parents puppy, Marley. He is definitely a handful.... But I think he'll grow out of it eventually. They already have him trained to go get the newspaper in the morning and bring it back! I've never seen anything like it...

And this has got to be my favorite picture EVER....

Ive always heard of people loving their jobs but never really fit into that category until I started doing photography. I had the privilege of photographing this soon-to-be-mom over the weekend and after I left I couldn't help but think "I can't believe I actually get paid to do this." Our session was full of adventures..... huge tractors, ponys, and a whole lot of laughs. Heres a couple of my favorite shots we got....

What to expect...

Our Style:

Is relaxed and casual. Stiff poses are avoided, although there are times we may “set the stage”. This will not be your typical studio experience, and we believe our style is one reason our clients refer us to friends and family and continue to come back!
We do our best to keep the mood relaxed; photo sessions should be fun!

Location:
The most natural, genuine portraits are created when people are relaxed and comfortable. Therefore, all sessions are conducted on location either at your home or and outdoor location such as a park.
For sessions at your home, don’t be surprised if we ask to have a look around your home to find the best settings and natural light. If necessary, we will add portable studio lighting and backdrops.

After your session:
Images from your session will be available for viewing on our website. You will order directly through the website and pictures are printed from a professional lab and will be shipped to you.
